Mentoring
New to faith? Been a Christian for years? Stuck in a rut? Difficult decisions to make?
The Bible is full of stories of mentoring: Elijah and Elisha, Paul and Timothy, Jesus and the disciples. They show us the power of learning alongside another person, of journeying together and growing as a disciple. Mentoring at Ps & Gs is about making whole-life disciples, helping us to explore who God is calling us to be and how, where and when we live out that calling.
Mentors meet with mentees every 4-6 weeks; sometimes they will read a book together and discuss that, sometimes go for a coffee, sometimes simply walk and chat. Mentoring is shaped around the people involved and will be unique to each mentor and mentee.
Mentors are members of our congregation who are trained to listen, ask, challenge and encourage. They don't have all the answers; in fact, we recognise that we are all on the same journey of exploring our calling as disciples. Mentors receive regular training and supervision and are supported by a team comprising coaches, spiritual directors and clergy.
